Cost

Evidenced waste as a share of your own billed spend, priced from your billing data rather than from a rate or a percentage assumption.

What is measured

Two figures, both from your own account:

  • 30-day spend, read from your billing data
  • Evidenced waste, from resources that are demonstrably idle

The score is the waste as a proportion of spend, converted to a penalty. Nothing is estimated.

What counts as evidenced waste

ClassWhat it is
Unattached storage volumesProvisioned, billed, attached to nothing
Unassociated static IP addressesReserved, billed, routing to nothing
Stale snapshotsRetained beyond a year

Each waste item carries the evidence that produced it, so the figure can be defended line by line.

Priced from your billing data

Waste is priced from the account's own billing records, never from a hardcoded rate or a fixed percentage of spend. The figure is what those resources actually cost you.

Minimum population

Below 100 US dollars of observed 30-day spend the domain is not rated.

Not assessed when

No cost evidence was collected, the account has no billable spend, spend is below the minimum, or every waste probe failed. When probes fail the waste figure is null and the domain is reported as not assessed rather than guessed at.

What this is not

Not a cloud cost optimisation review. It finds resources that are demonstrably idle. It does not right-size instances, model reserved capacity, or analyse architecture for efficiency.

Cloud cost recovery is reported separately and is excluded from the exposure range, so the two are never conflated.
