Governance assessment

A point-in-time, evidence-based judgement about how an environment is governed, scored against a published and reproducible methodology.

What it is

A measurement of how one AWS account is governed, taken at one moment, from configuration evidence, and scored against a published methodology.

Why it exists as a category

Boards are routinely asked to accept assurance that was produced by the same team responsible for the thing being assured. A governance assessment is an attempt to replace that with something a director can check.

How GovIntel applies it

Evidence is collected read-only, collapsed to distinct controls, scored deterministically across three domains, and published with every threshold and weight the calculation used.

What it does not mean

It is not an audit, not an assurance engagement, and not a certification. No auditor is engaged and no opinion is issued. It is also not continuous: it describes the environment as it was when it ran.
